Steel Frame Care

Steel frames require yearly anti-rust treatment on the interior tubing surfaces.

Hammer Track ISP and Ti Mast Cutting

The mast on the Hammer Track ISP will need to be cut to get the proper saddle height, it is very important to cut this mast down in small increments until it feels right, you do not want to cut too much!

For cutting you will need:

-Hacksaw with a fine tooth metal blade

-Saw guide

-Blue painters tape

-Marker

-Ruler

-Deburring tool

-Fine file

-Paper towel

-Grease

Firmly wrap the area that you will be clamping the saw guide and cutting with your painters tape, this will prevent the guide from marking your paint and reduce paint chips when cutting through the mast, Use your ruler and marker to measure and mark your cut line. Clamp your guide on the mast, make sure the clamp is on the frame side and not fastened to the mast cutoff piece. With light and smooth strokes begin cutting through the mast with your hacksaw. Once you've made your cut halfway through the tube, unclamp your cutting guide and rotate it 90 degrees then finish the cut, this will prevent the last cuts from flaking off the paint on the mast.

Once you finish the cut use your deburring tool (or file) to remove the burr on the inside of the tube, use your file to lightly knock off the burr on the outside of the tube, make sure your file strokes are at a 45 degree angle towards the center of the tube to avoid ‘pulling’ the paint away from the mast. Use your paper towel to wipe any remaining metal shavings from the inside of the mast. Apply Grease to the inside before replacing the topper.

ENVE Topper Guts

Installing the ENVE guts for your Hammer Track ISP and Hammer Track Ti Toppers can be a bit of a pain. Every piece fits into the topper with very tight tolerances, make sure you have the correct upper clamp installed (7x7 for round rails, 7x9 for oval rails) Once you have the upper piece installed, slide in your saddle and then slip your lower clamp into the assembly. In some cases we have to tap it in with a mallet, make sure you have rags and padding in place to protect the paint as you knock the lower portion in. If you have wrapped oval rails you may need to file the lower clamp piece to get everything to fit.
