Hammer Track Ti Seat Mast Cutting Instructions & Video

Ti Seat Mast Cutting Instructional Video

The mast on your Track Ti will need to be cut to get the proper saddle height, it is very important to cut this mast down in small increments until it feels right, you do not want to cut too much!

For cutting you will need:

-Hacksaw with a fine tooth metal blade

-Saw guide

-Blue painters tape

-Marker

-Ruler

-Deburring tool

-Fine file

-Paper towel

-Grease

Firmly wrap the area that you will be clamping the saw guide and cutting with your painters tape, this will prevent the guide from marking your frame and reduce paint chips when cutting through the mast, Use your ruler and marker to measure and mark your cut line. Clamp your guide on the mast, make sure the clamp is on the frame side and not fastened to the mast cutoff piece. With light and smooth strokes begin cutting through the mast with your hacksaw. Once you've made your cut halfway through the tube, unclamp your cutting guide and rotate it 90 degrees then finish the cut, this will prevent the last cuts from flaking off the paint on the mast.

Once you finish the cut use your deburring tool (or file) to remove the burr on the inside of the tube, use your file to lightly knock off the burr on the outside of the tube, make sure your file strokes are at a 45 degree angle towards the center of the tube to avoid ‘pulling’ the paint away from the mast. Use your paper towel to wipe any remaining metal shavings from the inside of the mast. Apply Grease to the inside before replacing the topper.

Cleaning Your Frame & Components

Depending on the type of finish you have, here are a couple ways you can safely keep it looking new.

Collapsible content

Paint

Using a silicone bike cleaner will keep your paint shiny and safe. Chain protectors work wonders on your chain stay.

If you plan to buff and polish your frame/components yourself, we highly recommend reaching out to us before doing so. Keep in mind you can not buff and polish your matte clear coat.

Anodizing

Anodizing may dull over time for numerous reasons. A light acetone wipe and washing with water works great for cleaning the anodized surface, and it will bring the color back to life.

We do not recommend using generic bike cleaners/polishes or ultrasonic cleaners on your anodized surface.

Cerakote

Cerakote is the easiest coating to keep clean, you can use most types of cleaners since it is highly resistant. That being said, we recommend avoiding harsh chemicals in general, water and polish should do the job just fine.

Raw Ti

-Brushed Ti is finished by hand. With usage, it is normal for your frame/components to get scratched. If you would like to try brushing the surface back, you can use green scotch brite.

-Polished Ti can be a tricky one. If the polished surface(s) you're dealing with are logos, there is a less likely chance for noticeable scratches. On large polished surfaces, it is inevitable that the surface will get scratched. There are lots of steps involved in finishing a surface to a mirror polish, and we do not recommend doing it yourself. If you would like to have the surface repolished, reach out to us and we'll see what's possible.

-Ceramic Blasted surfaces can get dirty easily. You can clean it with degreaser, or a light wipe with acetone, followed by washing it with water.
